Who are we?

the Good Samaritan’s “own donkey” (Luke 10:34)

Rev Simon Tan and Rinda Teo

are the directors and spiritual ministers of Listening Inn.

Rev Simon Tan is an ordained minister (1991) and an Associate Pastor (from 1991 to 2008) with his home church, World Revival Prayer Fellowship.  Before his theological training, Simon was a missionary with Operation Mobilization (OM) for seven years; for five of those years he was in Latin America onboard the gospel ship, MV Doulos.

Simon and his wife Rinda graduated from Bible College of New Zealand (renamed as Laidlaw College) in 1990. They have been giving contemplative prayer retreats since early 1991.  Simon and Rinda have been trained as spiritual directors (1998) and are experienced spiritual directors.  They work closely with Spiritual Growth Ministries of New Zealand, providing onsite supervision for those undergoing Spiritual Directors’ Training Program.  They are also trained and certified (from USA) as Midlife Direction Consultants, equipped to offer midlife direction workshops and retreats.

Simon and Rinda continue to worship in their home church in Singapore. In between giving retreats, they provide one-to-one ongoing spiritual direction, journey with cancer patients, read, study, reflect and enjoy their morning walks.

Lim Beng Kuan

Lim Beng Kuan is an adjunct lecturer in an institution of higher learning since 2013 after working in the finance industry for 25 years. Ten years ago, she stumbled upon silent retreat that both surprised and touched her deeply. Retreats in the following years became God’s ways of drawing her deeper in the twists and turns of life. That piqued her interest in being trained in spiritual formation and direction which she completed in 2018 with Spiritual Growth Ministries in New Zealand. Beng Kuan worships at Bethesda Serangoon Church. She enjoys the outdoors, cycling, walking and gardening.

She is currently working in a consulting and training firm.  She is a member of Community of Praise Baptist church and is part of the management committee for HCSA DaySpring, which provides services to girls who have suffered trauma as well as to unsupported single parents.  She is grateful for the gifts of contemplation and meditation, having experienced their transforming grace, and deeply desires for more of God’s children to discover this “hidden treasure in the field.”
